An abandoned section of a still in operation Christmas Tree Farm. It appears that St. Paul's Abbey Christmas Tree Plantation takes up many acres with a highway running straight through the center. One side of the highway is flourishing, yet the other side is completely abandoned. The day was unseasonably warm and the sun was high, so we decided to explore a little deeper where life wasn't so present.
The Christmas Tree Farm is owned and operated by the St. Paul's Abbey (also Abandoned) that was a Roman Catholic Benedictine Monastery. Founded on the 24th of March, 1924 by Father Michael Heinstein. A Monk of the Germany Archabbey and build a monastery for Eighteen Brothers living according to the rule of St. Benedict and St. Ottillen. Many years later decided to start a farm with various Firs and sell then as Christmas Trees once at respectable size. Planting Evergreen seedlings and using organic farming methods.
Started to climb up in hopes of getting a nice photograph from the top.
Do not let the abandoned side discourage you from visiting the farm and cutting your own Christmas Tree. The is much history behind this beautiful piece of land and It's a great place for a family outing, especially when it snows! With that said, do not let the abandoned side lure you into temptation. Word of warning, if you contemplate visiting any part of the abandoned section of this beautiful piece of private property. Anticipate being caught by authorities and paying the price. It is heavily patrolled and the townships' Police are not ones to be overly friendly.
