Born September 2, 1843, the young and wealthy Stuyvesant Rutherfurd, mostly due to a large inherited from his Grand Uncle. He became a very successful land developer of New York City, who developed much of the land with his new and innovatively styled apartment housing. Stuyvesant Rutherfurd was related and decedent to many names of note throughout New York and New Jersey.

The Rutherfurd family also owned their grand country estate "Tranquility Farms" in Allomuchy, New Jersey which in later years completely perished in a blazing inferno. Now the estate is in ruins with existing small farm houses collapsing one by one.

Today the estate is most famous for its beauty and wildlife preserve. It was abundant in Elk, Deer and most abundant with English Pheasants. Stuyvesant Rutherfurd introduced the English Pheasant as well as many different wildlife to this area which if you're lucky may encounter today generations later.

Among other things, Rutherfurd Stuyvesant was a great collector of Italian paintings and an extensive collection of armor. He spent his life as a Country Gentleman and as a Connoisseur. He was also the Director of the Metropolitan Museum. He also had a large sSchooner-Yacht which was named "Palmer". He and his wife would spent many of his later years tour Europe and the seas aboard the Palmer until his death on July 4, 1909 in France.
