A seasonably warm day after a snow storms can give one Cabin Fever wanting to go out and explore. An old service station located on a heavily traveled route we passed once, then twice without any intentions of stopping. During the third pass, something about this place was calling our names and we had to pull into a strip mall parking lot and explore. Dredging through the snow making our way to the station it looked as if there wasn't a way to enter being all was boarded up. Then on the South side of the station small piece of plywood had rotted off. Squeezing through, we managed to gain access where the bathrooms were and were instantly greeted by the carcass of a cat who has been here for quite some time.
It appears that this Service Station was under much management throughout the years. A Texaco, Tire Company and Rusty's Aamco just by what information I gathered from within the structure. Reason for shutting down is unknown, however a sign was posted stating there was an Environmental Investigation and cleanup was in progress. In progress for many years already since the sign was posted on October 19, 2012. Possibly the Environmental Investigation is due to all the worn tires precariously piled in the back of the garage bay area or maybe leaking gasoline into the soil. The pumps were obviously removed and there's no sign of where they were with all the snow covering.
Our warm welcome when first entering the station
I always thought a telephone in a bathroom stall raised a red flag!
