collapsing house

Yesterday along the throughfare
I passed a house that wasn't there
The house wasn't there again today
I wish that house was here to stay

An early Spring morning I passed by an old dilapidated house that clearly has been abandoned. A house that I have passed countless times throughout the years and being that it was just a mere short distance off the road screened by trees, it could easily be missed by the average commuter. As each day I passed the house, the more dilapidated and deteriorated the structure became. Roof collapsing, floors sinking and an overall foundation shifting askew.

Upon passing the old collapsing house in early 2020, I noticed it was no longer standing as it had been demolished and completely cleared away. All that remained was an empty lot. This reminded me of the photographs I have taken roughly twenty years prior, long before the Forsakenly Departed website. I have now decided to share what was considered an eyesore to most with you.

The air was cool and the ground was soft with fresh grass growing and leaves bursting out to reach the morning sun. The greenery was new and lush after the long snowy Winter. I was in plain sight from passing vehicles when exploring the abandoned house with my camera. I had to make myself inconspicuous so not to look suspicious.
