An abandoned vehicle that appears to be an early 1950's model lays deep in the middle of the swampy woods quite a distance from the main road. It is known to locals as "The Car in the Woods" and the lore that is told is that it might have been related to an Organized Crime act which occurred over fifty years ago.

Axe marks and bullet holes scatter the vehicle from all angles. How this car made it all the way back in the middle of the woods raises many questions to those who have the experience of hiking into it. Whatever the crime or act that happened, most likely occurred before this area was made a protected Wildlife Refuge where Hunting, Fishing nor Trapping is allowed.

The origin is uncertain of this vehicle and tale and I've been researching information for quite some time about this, but as of late still coming up Goose Eggs. Any input on this vehicle make and model along with a brief discription about what you know, simply drop Unkle Steve a note and I'll gladly share your story!

Today, this Car in the Woods is merely a mangled carcas with no roof nor doors left. It is sunken even deeper than pictured here. I took these photographs back in the 1980's with a 35mm Pentex K-1000 fully manual camera with it's rare brown leather casing.
