Cape May, New Jersey is located at the southern most tip of the New Jersey peninsula in Cape May County. This is where the Delaware Bay meets the Atlantic Ocean and considered one of the oldest vacation resort destinations in America. Cape May is also a National Historic Landmark due to its high concentration of Victorian Homes. The homes are centuries old and beautifully crafted to give their own unique look. In this small condensed area of New Jersey, they're are over 600 preserved Victorian homes and buildings. The natural beauty of the seaside beach in has been a draw for centuries. lined with Victorian Hotels and Bed & Breakfast, it is an eyeful of wonder to those who visited for the first time.
The photographs that are shown have been taken during the 1980's with a Pentex K-1000 fully manual camera and edited in Photoshop to add drama. The National Historic District has countless beautiful Victorian homes that I couldn't possibly take them all with using 35mm film. These homes were ones that caught my eye not knowing any history behind them or their names. I tend to venture down the lowest region of New Jersey again to shoot to my hearts content to as many homes as I can and update this page. Until then, please enjoy what little that is here for it will give you a taste of how homes look in this undeniable beautiful Historic area. If you have never visited Cape may, New Jersey and are in the area, make it a point for it's certainly worth the time to spand a day or two and seek the sights that makes a wonderful vacation spot.
It is without question that many of these beautiful Victorian houses are haunted. many vacation to Cape May to get away from the daily grind and relax on the sandy beach taking in the sun. Little do they know, they sleep with the Ghosts at night. Cape may is considered the most haunted town in New Jersey and it is up for debate to be haunted area in America. There's indubitably a high level of energy people feel when visiting the area with over a hundred places that are haunted. There are Haunted Tours that can be enjoyed if you have the nerves of steel to endure them. Places of note that are not shown here are: The Emlen Physicks Estate, The Inn of Cape May and The Hotel Macomber just to name a few. If you're not into beaches, this might be for you!
